Several sources reported over the weekend that 5-time World Cup Champions Brazil would host Portugal in a friendly to be held at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts on Tuesday September 10th. The match will follow this summers Confederations Cup which is a warm-up to the 2014 World Cup which will held in Brazil next year.
The New England Patriots are on the road at Buffalo that weekend and Gillette will host a college football game followed by a New England Revolution soccer match that Saturday.
Friendlies in the United States are becoming a bit of a regular occurrence for Brazil who played 4 matches here last year against Columbia, Argentina, Mexico and the USMNT. The worldwide appeal of the "Green and Yellow" have meant nearly sell-out crowds for all of the venues that played host to Brazil last year. An all Portuguese-speaking friendly will likely ensure a record crowd for Gillette Stadium this year.
