Chelsea v Man City in St. Louis

According to a report from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch this morning, English Premier League sides Chelsea and Manchester City are set to do battle at Busch Stadium on Thursday May 23rd.

Rumors of the two clubs playing a pair of friendlies in the US immediately following the end of the premier league season on May 19th have been around for weeks, but today marks the first official announcement from anyone involved with the matches.

St. Louis Cardinals ownership apparently pulled off a bit of a coup; the match had previously been rumored to be taking place in Miami. There's no doubt that St. Louis is a hot-bed for soccer in America, but they have missed out on previous pre-season summer tours due to the lack of a natural grass stadium. With the Cardinals on the road for the week the chance to use Busch Stadium for something other than baseball worked out nicely.

The other half of the two-match tour is scheduled to be in New York at either MetLife Stadium or Yankee Stadium on Saturday May 25th.
