Before we get to our special 'Holiday Edition' of Front Money Friday... I would like to wish you all a belated Merry Christmas and a Happy Boxing Day! We have almost a full set of fixtures in store for you today besides the Arsenal versus West Ham United matchup that was postponed due to "industrial action" on London Underground. Without further delay, let us get to my predictions for this special time in the Barclays Premier League.
Everton vs. Wigan Athletic
The Toffees welcome Wigan Athletic to their fortress of Goodison Park on this Wednesday afternoon with the potential of bringing themselves back out of the relegation zone. The future is not looking bright for the traveling club with their recent form. While suffering a loss to Arsenal over the weekend, Everton pulled of a 2-1 win over The Hammers with a flurry of red cards. Can The Blues continue their strong run of form at home?
The Gamble: Everton
Fulham vs. Southampton
As these two clubs meet today, neither are doing quite well as of late. The Cottagers gave QPR their first win of the season the weekend before and then were completely blanketed by Liverpool this past weekend. Southampton have been with the club over their past few fixtures with the past three resulting in 1-0 score lines. Unfortunately only one resulted in three points for the former Championship side (vs. Reading). Do you see The Saints putting in the grind to gain one point on the road?
The Gamble: A Draw
Norwich City vs. Chelsea
As the European Champions travel to Norwich, they look to ride off their 8-0 thumping of Aston Villa over the weekend. The Canaries might have something to say about that despite their 10-match unbeaten streak being snapped by a strong West Bromwich side (ironically by Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku). Expect the boys in yellow to have something to prove on their home turf.
The Gamble: Chelsea
Reading vs. Swansea City
The Swans take flight over to the Madejski Stadium to visit severely struggling Reading. Despite one of their best defensive performances of the season this past weekend, an unlikely Manchester City player put one in the net to grab the three points. Today gives a chance for The Royals to test that hard work in front of their dedicated supporters. Will they hold together even stronger against the boys in white?
The Gamble: A Draw
Sunderland vs. Manchester City
After a not-so-surprising Steven Fletcher winner for Sunderland over the weekend, the boys welcome The Citizens to their Stadium of Light. Both clubs come off a 1-0 win in their respective fixtures over the weekend. The boys in sky blue continued to show their winning ways no matter the time on the clock. Fletcher continued to show he is *the* source of goals for The Black Cats. Will the away side put out the lights on the stadium?
The Gamble: Manchester City
Aston Villa vs. Tottenham Hotspur
Villa Park welcomes The Spurs today coming off a scoreless draw with Stoke City. The Claret & Blue welcome the Europa League club after a crushing 8-0 defeat to Chelsea over the weekend. AVB should manage to be confident having his players walking onto the pitch. We can only hope that the loyal supporters of Aston Villa will be their 12th man.
The Gamble: Tottenham Hotspur
Stoke City vs. Liverpool
With the two clubs neck and neck on the table, it looks to be an interesting battle on this Boxing Day. Britannia Stadium has been somewhat of a hard place to play for some clubs this season. Liverpool come into town riding their 4-0 win over Fulham where they played some of the club's best soccer this season. Despite Stoke having "the best defense in the league", The Reds seem to have a little bit of an edge with their offensive firepower.
The Gamble: Liverpool
NO BRAINERS OF THE DAY:
Manchester United vs. Newcastle United:
The Gamble: Manchester United
Queens Park Rangers vs. West Bromwich Albion:
The Gamble: West Bromwich Albion
