How are you all doing on this wonderful Friday? I know I'm anxiously awaiting some huge matchups in this weekend's Barclays Premier League. With powerhouse fixture between Chelsea and Manchester United along with a Merseyside derby featuring Liverpool and Everton, it couldn't be a better weekend for some English league play. No need to keep you waiting. Let's take a look at this week's predictions.
Aston Villa vs. Norwich City
Both clubs are trying to hold their heads out of the dreaded relegation zone. Aston Vila sits much closer than The Canaries do. On the previous weekend, Norwich had a fairly strong showing against Arsenal holding them to only a 1-0 win. Grant Holt had several good chances that just couldn't find their way to the back of the net.
The Gamble: Norwich City
Stoke City vs. Sunderland
Stoke City and Sunderland sit right next to each other on the table. They both have a quality guys up top in Fletcher and Crouch. The difference is that The Potters attack were able to put two away against Manchester United despite the 4-2 loss.
The Gamble: Stoke City
Wigan Athletic vs. West Ham United
After one of there better Premier League seasons last go around, Wigan Athletic have not gotten off to that same start this time. West Ham United on the other hand are having a stellar return to the top flight after a year in the Championship. You would think Andy Carroll is tearing it up around goal, but it is another Englishmen Kevin Nolan who is their top scorer (4).
The Gamble: West Ham United
Manchester City vs. Swansea City
Manchester City won't have too easy of a time getting three points this weekend. Swansea City have proved they are here to stay in the top flight. If they can get back to the form they showed in the first few matches of the season, they will give City a run for their money.
The Gamble: Manchester City
Everton vs. Liverpool
Welcome to the Merseyside Derby! Liverpool have really struggled as of late compared to their usual recent standings in the top flight. Hopefully a victory in the Europa League midweek will give them the boost needed to continue their climb back into the top half of the table. Unfortunately with home field advantage and excellent form, Everton look to claim this weekend's derby.
The Gamble: Everton
Newcastle United vs. West Bromwich Albion
Newcastle continue their solid mid-table form. Getting a 1-0 win mid week against Europa League competition Club Brugge of Belgium. West Bromwich Albion are continuing to claw at the 5th place table spot for a shot at next years Europa League. This is by far their best season to date.
The Gamble: West Bromwich Albion
Chelsea vs. Manchester United
The best was saved for last. Not enough could be said about this powerhouse meeting in a few sentences. You have world-class players versus world-class players. The edge that Chelsea does have, though, is the amount of playmakers they have gathered this season. They are going up against what seems to be a struggling backline for Manchester United.
The Gamble: Chelsea
NO BRAINERS OF THE WEEK
