Check it out, you think you have what it takes? Next month on October 20, Wolf Management Group is hosting Orlando's First annual Street Soccer Challenge. For those local soccer athletes who have been keeping up with their techniques, take on the challenge, this event is your time to shine. Up to now, some of the participating vendors include:

Do I have your attention? Do you want to know more about this Street Soccer Challenge? Alright, I'll stop teasing and share the juicy details...

First, let's establish what exactly is the Street Soccer Challenge.

The Street Soccer Challenge is Orlando’s only 3-on-3 street soccer tournament. It is an all day affair for both local soccer stars that are looking for a competitive place to play and enough entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. The main event, which is the soccer challenge, is held in the back parking lot of the Plaza Live on Bumby Avenue just south of Colonial. With the help of Street Stadia, the space will transform from parking lot to urban soccer pitch in a matter of minutes. This is an event where you can play soccer in a city environment, hangout with friends and family, enjoy some good food, refreshments and listen to music from local bands and DJ's.

Alex Wolf, the event producer, said in our interview, "I organized events like this in Austin, TX and they were a big success. I figured, why not organize another challenge here in Orlando, especially since something of this nature and multitude hasn’t been exposed to central Florida."

“The street has always given it heart and soul. In the U.S., as in every other country where players dream of bringing home the cup, future champions will emerge from the streets playing the game known around the world as calle.” – CALLE Soccer, LLC, Website.

The details:

Each team is randomly selected into groups of four. The first six rounds will consist of group play.

A win is 3 points, a tie is 1 point and a loss is 0 points.
  • Round 1 - 6 (group stage) 11:00am-2:30pm
  • Round 7: (quarterfinals) 3:00-3:30pm
  • Round 8: (semifinals) 4:00-4:30pm
  • Round 9: (championship match) 5:00-5:30pm
At the end of group stage, each team partakes in three games. The top eight teams, based on points from group play, will move on to the quarterfinals (top two from each group and two wildcards). The highest seeded team plays against the lowest seeded and so on.

“From there, it is winning and continues or loses and goes home.”  - Alex Wolf

“This is such a unique event that Orlando needs. It brings so many different groups together.” said Tom Traxlor, Owner of United World Soccer. “Soccer is played all over the world and taking it back to where most kids learn to play is great. It is also a creative way for a brand to connect with not only the soccer community but the with the food truck & music scene. That is exactly why we had to be a part of it.”
