Friday Footnotes

We have had a pretty busy week at "The Scoring Third" and with a plethora of articles hitting our site, I wouldn't be surprised if you missed one or two of them. For today's "Friday Footnotes" we will take a quick look back at all of the great articles we posted this week and let you know what we have in-store for next week.

11 Questions: Heath Pearce (Chivas USA): In an interview unlike any other, we couldn't contain our favorite Chivas player to just 11 Questions, we had to go to penalty kicks with 5 extra inquiries. The conversation went from one extreme to another, from "Glee" to "Pinterest", favorite keepsake jersey to favorite beer. Perhaps the best questions was what he thought of the infamous Bob Bradley/Jonathan Bornstein "love affair" that put the lack-luster left back on the USMNT time after time instead of the more qualified Pearce.

reVIEW: Orlando City v Wilmington: "The Professor" reports on Orlando City's first home match of the season in front of a regular season record, 8,421 fans at the Citrus Bowl. Although the result was in the favor of the Lions, head coach Adrian Heath had a bit of a different opinion on the team's performance and wasn't afraid to show it.

Monday Morning Keeper: EPL Week 34: Who would have thought Carlos Tevez would ever score again for Manchester City, little alone a hat trick, but that's just what he did on Saturday against Norwich City. With the midweek lost to Wigan, Manchester United rebounded with a home win against Aston Villa. Only 4 matches remain in the season with the Manchester Derby on April 30th the biggest opportunity for both teams.

Green Behind the Ears: "Blon Dee" tells us about the most popular double-date option in Seattle; sharing their season tickets with friends and turning them into new Sounders FC fans. From the march to the match, to the chanting,  and the "scarves up" mentality, she talks about how everyone is welcomed into the fold, but there is a little bit of leg work before you can truly bleed green.

US Soccer Home 2012/13 Jersey: We take a look at the new "Where's Waldo" jersey for both the men's and women's national teams that they will wear in the Olympics (ladies only) and for world cup qualifying. A bit different, not really an overwhelming favorite, but the marketing gods were right in putting Alex Morgan in the promo picture!

The Wet Dream Goal: If you missed this little gem over the weekend of Ray Hudson calling the Real Madrid v Athletico Madrid match for GolTV, your life is not complete. Hudson has a history of wild and crazy goal calls, but nothing compares to his "wet dream, orgasmic, Jessica Rabbit on steroids" call of Christiano Ronaldo's goal this weekend. We've got the video to prove it!

Scoreless in Seattle: "Straight Red" submitted his report on the Colorado Rapid's poor streak of loses, the most recent at the hands of the Seattle Sounders. While things were looking up after the first few matches for the Rapids, now things are a little more uncertain for new head coach Oscar Pareja.

We are already working on a couple of great articles for the days and week ahead. "The Professor" will have his match preVIEW for Richmond v Orlando City sometime later today followed by a full reVIEW to start off the week. I have been working on landing some more 11 Questions interviews and looks like we might have Brek Shea and other MLS stars. "Blon Dee" and "Straight Red" will be checking in with the Seattle Sounders and Colorado Rapids, respectively. Lastly, I am working on an article about a potential road map to MLS expansion in the Southeast.

As always, thanks for following "The Scoring Third" and stay tuned for the latest in all irrelevant soccer topics!
