11 Questions: C.J. Sapong (Sporting KC)

Courtesy of Sporting KC
The biggest story in Major League Soccer so far this season is not David Beckham doing Burger King  ads, it is the tremendous start for Sporting KC who are a perfect 5-0-0 and have the best record in the league. Not only does the team play in arguably in the greatest stadium in the league (Livestong Sporting Park), they also have one of the most talented, young squads in the league that appears poised to make a run at the title. A major part of Sporting's success over the last two seasons has been their star striker, C.J. Sapong.

Sapong is a product of Virginia soccer youth camps, PDL teams, and James Madison University. After a stellar collegiate career where he earned first team all-conference honors in all four years, he was chosen tenth overall by Sporting in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft. It only took two minutes into his professional career to score his first goal against Chivas helping KC win the match 3-2. More firsts for C.J. last season as he became the first player to score an MLS goal at Liverstrong Sporting Park when it opened last June. Starting the majority of matches for the team and totaling five goals and five assists and taking home the honor of MLS Rookie of the Year last season.

Sapong has a great sense of humor, as is evident from his tweets (@BigAfrika88) and his impromptu raps to Hope Solo. Naturally, we were excited to have a chance to sit down with him for a few minutes for an interview.. Needless to say, the outcome was nothing less than spectacular, perhaps even magical if you include the Harry Potter reference. So now we present C.J. Sapong and his crack at "11 Questions".

A little back story on the last question, apparently C.J. is a big Harry Potter fan, or at least that is what he told us. Regardless, if Daniel Radcliffe considers himself a serious actor and wants to breakaway from Hogwarts, we expect him to take on the lead role in C.J.'s bio-pict. Thanks again to C.J. for the interview and good luck to him and the rest of Sporting KC on their MLS season. Special thanks to Alice Schroeder for helping out with the interview.
