11 Questions: Robbie Findley (Real Salt Lake)

11 Questions" on The Scoring Third is the fastest growing interview series on our website. Followers to our site will be quick to point out that it is the only interview series on our website, but we never pass up an opportunity for shameless self-promotion. With this in mind we will back-sale our previous interviews with MLS stars Brian Ching and Andy Najar as a way of priming our audience for what lies ahead. The MLS playoffs get under way this weekend and what better way to get into the spirit of the post-season with an interview with the stand-out star of defending MLS champions Real Salt Lake. That's right kids, RSL forward Robbie Findley has decided to take his crack at "11 Questions".

Robbie hails originally from Phoenix where in his high school career he was named First Team All-State in 2002 and 2003. He attended Oregon State for college and was named the to the All-PAC10 team all four years along with being named PAC-10 Freshman of the Year in 2003. His professional career began with a successful stint with the USL PDL level Boulder Rapids Reserve team in 2005-2006. A side note, "The Professor" spent sometime playing indoor league soccer in Boulder with some of the Rapids Reserve players, which we highlight as our "small world" connection. Although briefly with the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2007, Robbie's MLS career began to explode when he moved to Real Salt Lake that same year and came out of the gates with a two goal performance in his first match. Findley has lead RSL into the playoffs for the last 3 seasons being near the top in goals scored for the team in each year. In the 2009 MLS Cup, Robbie scored the game tying goal for RSL in the 64th minute which ended up pushing the match to penalty kicks where RSL upset the Galaxy for the title. Perhaps the crowning achievement of Findley's young career was being on the 23-man roster for the USMNT in the World Cup in South Africa this past summer. He saw playing time in 3 of the 4 matches and he has a bright future with the USMNT which is in disparate need of forwards for Brazil in 2014.

That's all well and good Mr. Findley. You know I once came in 3rd in a spelling bee in 5th grade, but you don't see a mention of that in my bio. MLS titles and World Cup trips are nice, but the real notch in your belt comes today sir when you go up against "11 Questions".

(Please note, Robbie failed to answer two of the questions, not sure if he was scared or confused or both. Clearly "11 Questions" played mind-games with Mr. Findley, but we have contacted him with a chance to reply with responses. We will modify his responses accordingly.)
